Cardiff is a lively, fast growing and diverse capital, which is rich in heritage and places of interest. The universities contribute to a young nightlife and the city is fast becoming one of the top shopping destinations in the U.K. We are directly facing the river Taff and the world famous Millennium Stadium ideally located in the centre of Cardiff. We are just a five minute walk from the central bus and train station (closer than any other backpackers hostel). Below is a map and directions panel to help you find your way to our hostel. By Bus - National Express and Mega Bus operate direct services to Cardiff Central Station from all over the UK including London's Heathrow and Gatwick airports.

By Rail - High speed InterCity trains provide frequent services between all major British cities. The Cardiff-London InterCity service, from London Paddington, runs some seventeen times a day (leaving every 30 mins), with a journey time of less than two hours.

Frequent regional network trains connect Cardiff with:

  • Bristol (50 mins)
  • Birmingham (2 hrs 10 mins)
  • Southampton (2 hrs 30 mins)
  • Manchester (3 hrs)
  • Liverpool (3 hrs)

and with many other cities and towns.

Central Trains: www.centraltrains.co.uk for fast and frequent local rail services throughout the East and West Midlands. Long distance services run from the Midlands to South Wales the North West of England, East Anglia and the East Coast.

By Road - Cardiff is served by the M4 and is easily accessible from all parts of Britain.

From the south west, take the M5 and from the south of England, follow major A roads to the M4.

From Scotland, the north of England and the Midlands, it is an easy drive via the M6, M5 and M50/M4.

Car Parking - Due to its convenient city centre location there is very limited parking facilities at the River House. Visit Cardiff Councils traffic web site for more information on parking in the city centre and road conditions.

By Air - Cardiff served by an international airport that is only 11 miles from the city centre. See www.cwlfly.com for more information.

Bristol International Airport is only 1 hour away, with direct flights from the States as well as budgets airlines flying from all over Europe. Birmingham, Manchester and London Airports (Heathrow, Gatwick, Stansted and Luton) are also all easily accessible to Cardiff by high-speed InterCity train or coach.
